Fertility enhancing laparoscopy & hysteroscopy

Laparoscopy

With laparoscopy, we can see the uterus as well as tubes in ovaries from outside by using a very minimal incision in the abdomen. 

  1. Evaluation of tubal patency: HSG showing bilateral tubal blocks.
  2. In unexplained infertility – To look for other causes of infertility.
  3. In endometriosis – cystectomy to ablate the ovarian endometriomas, adhesiolysis to improve the ovarian tubal relationship and chances of conceiving
  4.  PCOS  may require  ovarian drilling to  increase the chances of ovulation in patients who are not responding to drugs alone.
  5. Fibroids and adenomyosis -myomectomy and adenomectomy done through laparoscopy route  decrease uterine distortion and the pain and increase the results of your fertility treatment procedures.
  6. In patients undergoing IVF with hydrosalpinx, damaged tubes, clipping the tube before IVF to improve the success of in vitro fertilization.

Hysteroscopy 

  1. To asses the inside of utreus in previous failed IVF

  2. Thin endometrium due to intrauterine adhesions

  3. Endometrial polyp or sub mucous fibroid inside the cavity leading to implantation failures or recurrent pregnancy losses
  4.  Septum  ( wall inside the uterine cavity)

So a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy can definitely improve your chances of conceiving naturally also and also in patients who are undergoing IVF,  prior laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, when done in properly selected patients can definitely improve your success rates.
